As you may know, on July 26, 2026, the range was temporarily closed. This was a reaction, in an abundance of caution, to a lawsuit filed by a land developer, Harvey Sternberg, against the gun range that seeks a Court Order to immediately shut down the range indefinitely so that Harvey Sternberg can proceed with his plans to develop the property and make a profit. A hearing is presently scheduled on Harvey Sternberg's complaint before a Camden County Superior Court Judge on September 4, 2026 at 9:00 am in Courtroom 32, 101 S FIFTH STREET, CAMDEN, NJ 08103.
At this hearing, the Court will consider whether or not to immediately close down our range. We are fighting back against this land developer and encourage all our members and supporters to show up at the hearing in support of our range. The hearing date could change so please check our website for up to minute details.
Also, in an abundance of caution, while our range is under legal attack, we have decided to change some range rules, as follows:
The new club policy is that a club authorized Range Safety Officer (RSO) must be present at all times for members to enter the Property. A calendar of open range times has been posted on the website and can be seen by scrolling down to Calendar of Events on the club website here www.ironhorsegunclub.com.
Only club RSOs will have the gate lock combination. And, only a club authorized RSO may unlock the gate. When a member approaches the gate to enter the range during open range times, the gate should be in a closed but unlocked condition. The member should swing the unlocked gate open, drive their car past the gate, and then close the gate behind their car leaving the gate closed but not locked. Members are not permitted to pass the range gate unless an RSO has unlocked the gate.
Club RSOs are volunteers. And, we respectfully request members to be patient and please follow any directions given by the RSO. In addition, we need volunteer RSOs and all our members are encouraged to obtain their RSO certification (NRA, USCCA or similar) and apply for club approval to become a volunteer RSO.
Finally, during this period of time, only club members are allowed on the range premises. We ask members not to bring any guests, including family members other than your spouse, to the range.
We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause, but the future of this range is now at risk and we need to be overly cautious at this time. Hopefully, in the future we will be able to accommodate members guests.
Thank you for your anticipated support and cooperation.
Sincerely, Iron Horse Gun and Archery Club.
